Mobility air forces crucial component to resupply mission

SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Mobility air forces continue to serve as a crucial component to resupplying the fight against Da'esh in the offensive to recapture Mosul, Iraq.

The 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron completed a munitions transportation Oct. 28 to an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, effectively resupplying strike platforms with the munitions needed to continue Coalition airstrikes against Da'esh.

The 816th EAS is equipped with C-17 Globemaster IIIs and support Coalition forces engaging in operations as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Resolute Support and Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The mission of the 816th EAS is to provide global strategic airlift, airdrop, aeromedical evacuation and humanitarian relief to create an air bridge for service members, equipment and supplies throughout their assigned areas of responsibility.
