The 380th Air Expeditionary Wing’s very own Master Sgt. Josefina Liles was selected as the Senior Master Sergeant Margaret Frances Barbour, NCO Military Award winner by Tuskegee Airman Inc.

Liles was recognized during the 47th Annual Tuskegee Airmen National Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, Aug. 9.

These awards are presented to outstanding military members who demonstrated exceptional leadership, achievement and outstanding performance in both professional and community service.

Liles has been stationed at the 380 AEW since 2017, where she is a 380 Security Forces Squadron force protection intelligence analyst. During her time on Al Dhafra Air Base, she was able to excel professionally, personally and serve the community, even earning the 2017 Wing NCO of the Year. Her accomplishments lead her to be the top contender for the national Tuskegee Airman Inc. award.

“Receiving this award has definitely been an honor and I am very grateful,” said Liles.

The award honors Senior Master Sgt. Margaret Frances Barbour, who passed away in 2010. Barbour served 27 years in the Air Force, receiving many awards and commendations during her military service.

“She was one of the top three ranking African American enlisted women in the Air Force when she retired in 1972,” said Liles “As a minority and a woman, it put things in perspective to be recognized in her honor. I am thankful for my S2 team and my squadron for submitting me.”

Following her tour at ADAB, Liles will return to Nevada at Creech Air Force Base.
