The 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron underwent a change of command May 20, 2022 at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. Command of the squadron changed hands from Lt. Col. Brandon Hori to Lt. Col. Nick Saccone, the new 380th ECES commander.

The 380th ECES is home to a wide array of Air Force career fields that are paramount to any installation’s construction and maintenance. Supporting everything from the airfields, roads and buildings to power, water and HVAC – the 380th ECES is involved. In addition to building and sustaining the base from the ground up, the ECES is responsible for Explosive Ordnance Disposal, firefighters, emergency management, environmental engineers and pest control – easily making it one of the largest squadrons in the wing.

Despite the size and scope of the ECES mission, Hori distinguished himself during his service and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

“Brandon is not only an outstanding commander – he also led in critical and essential roles at the Wing level,” said Colonel Todd Inouye, the previous 380th Expeditionary Mission Support Group commander and new 380 AEW A1/4/6/7 staff director. “He served as the installation’s emergency operations center director numerous times during exercises, as well as real world emergencies and crises, including an aircraft crash and subsequent recovery operations and during the Afghanistan Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation.”

Wrapping up the ceremony, Saccone addressed the Airmen of the 380th ECES sharing his excitement being at ADAB.

Saccone said, “I am so proud of our profession and the tremendous impact we make on this installation. I look forward to getting to know each of you. Engineers! Lead the way!”
