U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Cody Madison, 451st Expeditionary Support Squadron Central Command Material Recovery Element joint inspector, is responsible for identifying, storing and redeploying assets to the U.S. or disposing of items located throughout Afghanistan.

“Here as a joint inspector, I inspect cargo to make sure it’s airworthy,” said Madison. “As CMRE, we help units prepare cargo for airlift. We also make sure cargo gets transferred back to where it needs to be or destroyed. Ultimately this helps us get out of Afghanistan quicker.”

Madison is part of the ‘1000s of Hands’ of 455 AEW Airmen who are crucial to the wing’s mission to generate and sustain airpower on the combat frontier of Afghanistan’s NATO’s Resolute Support mission and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. The ‘1000s of Hands’ project highlights Vulture Airmen who have a hand in delivering a blanket of steel, technology and courage to protect the force in the field and support Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
