9/3/2012 - Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan -- The Mayor of Sokuluk, Kyrgyzstan, Kalysbek Tjulianiev, and members of his staff visited the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgysztan, Aug. 30, 2012, to learn more about the Transit Center's mission and to strengthen the partnerships between Airmen here and the local community.
Tjuljaliev and his staff received a wing mission brief by Col. Corey Martin, 376th Air Expeditionary Wing commander. The visit also included a tour of the 376th Expeditionary Medical Group facilities.
At the 376 EMDG, the mayor and his delegation met with health care personnel who provided a tour of the facility and demonstrated medical equipment.
Col. Frank Allara, 376 EMDG commander, was pleased to host the local dignitaries.
"I am confident the partnership between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic is reinforced anytime we engage in personal interaction and collaboration with our host nation colleagues. Nowhere is this more evident than in our medical exchanges," he said.
Allara views this relationship as part of a larger mission.
"If our interaction can alleviate pain and suffering and improve the quality of life for a single individual, not only does our relationship advance, but all of humanity benefits," Allara said.
Tjulianiev enjoyed his day at the Transit Center and appreciates the developing partnership between the Transit Center Airmen and the people of Sokuluk.
"The visit was positive and our relationship has grown. It has been more than a year since we began partnering with the Airmen of the Transit Center. We started simply playing sports games and the relationship has [evolved]. Members of the Transit Center's Theatre Security Cooperation division have come out and the medical team has visited our hospital," he said.
The mayor is optimistic regarding the growing friendship and looks forward to future visits.
"We are hoping for continued cooperation and an expanded partnership with the Transit Center in the future," Tjulaliev said.
