Keeping them Warm
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (AFPN) -- Brig. Gen. Bruce Burda hands out hot chocolate to Airman 1st Class Chelsea Goodwin (left) and Senior Airman Kenneth Wang. The 455th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, along with his command chief and first sergeants, spent Thanksgiving evening distributing hot chocolate, cookies, candy and hand warmers to Airmen working flightline operations. Airman Wang, from Carrollton, Texas, is deployed from Yokota Air Base, Japan, while Airman Goodwin, from Ceres, Calif., is deployed from Kadena Air Base, Japan. Operation Iraqi Freedom
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Airmen unload cargo from a C-17 Globemaster III here Oct. 11. The aircraft, from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., flew in approximately 50 tons of food and shelter equipment as part of the Pakistan earthquake relief effort. The earthquake has killed an estimated 40,000 people and has left thousands more injured in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and the Kashmir region. PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan -- Staff Sgt. John Golden hands an Afghan child a stuffed animal and coloring book during an adopt-a-village trip here. Airmen from the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at nearby Bagram Air Base take part in the program to assist villages in Afghanistan with infrastructure, fresh water, school supplies and toys for children.
