Canada 150: Coalition partners celebrate Canada Day 2017
AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar – Canadian, U.S. and Coalition partners celebrated Canada's 150th anniversary July 1, during a flag raising ceremony hosted by members of the Canadian armed forces at the Combined Air Operations Center here.
Deployed Coalition members also shared Canadian hospitality and pride with cake, decorated with red and white maple leafs, and distributing Canadian flags, pins and other memorabilia.
Canada Day commemorates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, also referred to as the Constitution Act of 1867. This legislature began the history of Canada as a nation by uniting three colonies of the British Empire.
Today, Canadian communities around the world celebrate the occasion with parades, carnivals, fireworks, festivals and concerts.
Canada is at the forefront of international efforts to counter ISIS as part of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, the global Coalition to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
