Afghan girl seriously wounded in militant attack
BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan --
Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition forces medically evacuated a 14-year-old girl who was severely injured in a Taliban grenade attack in the Khas Oruzgan district, Oruzgan province Tuesday.
The girl was at home when a Taliban militant threw a grenade into her family's house. Her injuries included an amputated right thumb, partially amputated fingers, multiple shrapnel wounds and internal bleeding.
The girl was treated at a Coalition base. Due to the severity of her injuries, she had to be medically evacuated to another Coalition base to receive additional medical treatment.
No other civilian injuries were reported.
