Southwest Asia --   Air Force Brig. Gen. John Quintas, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Samer Alkhoury, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing command chief, presented Air Force Senior Airman Robert Walts, 380th Expeditionary Communications Squadron technical control, a warrior of the week certificate at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, July 30, 2014. Walts is deployed from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

Walts was the driving force behind the installation of seven critical feeds for an $81M Battlespace Command and Control Center that provides commanders a complete and comprehensive airspace picture for effective execution of wartime operations. His expertise during the installation of a $170K enhanced satellite gateway, facilitated state-of-the art interference protection for the backbone of Southwest Asia communications. Senior Airman Walts further complemented his squadron's motto, "Always On," by spearheading 21 circuit restorations, providing secure communications to four Air Force Central Command locations and the launch of 393 combat search and rescue missions.
