Helgeson, a firefighter assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, strikes “the four-fives” during a 9/11 memorial ceremony September 11, 2022, at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. Historically, when a firefighter died in the line of duty, departments would use the tolling of a bell to alert all members that a comrade had perished.
