Kyrgyz climate keeps Manas weather flight on toes

Staff Sgt. George Silva Jr. conducts a weekly cleaning March 22 of the TMQ-53, which is equipment that aids the 376th Operations Support Squadron's Combat Weather forecasters in making weather observations at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan. Keeping the equipment clean ensures accurate measures of pressure, rain, wind, temperature, dew point, visibility, and cloud heights. The information is transmitted to a sensor display read out and sent to the forecaster's computers. Sergeant Silva is a weather forecaster and weather equipment technician deployed from the 37th OSS at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Phyllis Hanson)
