Women’s History Month

Female members of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing honor guard post the colors to start a luncheon in honor of Women’s History Month themed ‘Celebrating Women of Courage, Character and Commitment,’ Mar. 31, 2014. The guest speaker for the event, Dr. Jennifer Hesterman, retired Air Force colonel and published author, spoke to Airmen deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, about obstacles women in the military often face and the importance of being persistent, patient and to push the boundaries to achieve work success and balance with home life. Women’s History Month has its origin as a national celebration back to 1981, to increase knowledge and awareness of notable contributions by women in key civilian and military leadership roles.
