COLONEL DANIEL J. CORDES

Colonel Daniel Cordes is the Vice Commander, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. The wing, comprised of more than 6,000 Airmen and coalition partners, provides air mobility, precision strike, personnel recovery, electronic attack, logistics operations, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets in support of operations throughout Southwest Asia.


Colonel Cordes received his commission through ROTC at Texas Christian University. He is a C130E/H Master Navigator and previously served as the commander for both the 570th Global Mobility Squadron and 821st Contingency Response Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, CA. He has tactical and operational experience across diverse mission sets with multiple deployments in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM and Operations in the Horn of Africa. His joint experience includes a serving as the Chief, Deployable Distribution C2 Branch responsible for USTRANSCOM’s Joint Logistics Over the Shore, and Joint Task Force – Port Opening programs. Colonel Cordes has also served as Deputy Division Chief for Training, Readiness and Exercises, Wing Inspector General, Wing Chief of Exercises, Group and Squadron Chief of Tactics, and Squadron Chief of Standardization and Evaluation. Colonel Cordes is a Distinguished Graduate of Air Command and Staff College and a graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School. Prior to his current position he served as Senior Director of Operations for the 618 Air Operations Center (TACC) at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
