Chief Master Sgt. John A. Palmer, Command Chief

Chief John A. Palmer is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Chief Palmer is the senior enlisted leader of a composite wing responsible for executing full spectrum air operations on behalf of United States, coalition and partner forces executing NATO’s Resolute Support mission and Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL. He serves as a trusted advisor to the wing commander on matters affecting current and future combat operations, and the health, morale, welfare, discipline, and effective utilization of 2,500 Total Force Airmen and civilians assigned to Bagram, Jalalabad and Kandahar Airfields. Chief Palmer additionally serves as the senior enlisted Air Force liaison between the wing, joint, and coalition senior enlisted leaders, influencing combined joint policies and procedures throughout Afghanistan.

Chief Palmer entered the Air Force on 7 May, 1993. He has garnered and provided sound technical expertise in both maintenance and operations career fields from Squadron to Headquarters-levels in Joint, deployed and Coalition environments. Chief Palmer has also served in a variety of progressively responsible positions from functional management at the MAJCOM-level to personnel actions at the Air Force- level. Over the course of 27 years, Chief Palmer has garnered extensive experience in tactical,  operational  and  strategic-level  human  resource  management, professional development, Command and Control, theater-level programing and requisitions management planning in Air Force, Joint and Multi-National environments.

CMSgt Palmer is a veteran of Operations NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, RESOLUTE SUPPORT and TOMADACHI.
