Jan. 20, 2014 Warrior of the Week: Master Sgt. Carmen Villarini

Name: Master Sgt. Carmen Villarini

Deployed Unit: 738th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron

Home Station: Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

Home Unit: HQ Air Force Reserve Command/A1

Mission Accomplishments:

Master Sergeant Carmen Villarini is the S1/Personnel Management Advisor for the 738th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron (AEAS), Kabul Afghanistan. In her first six months, she has proven vital in the advising effort to solidify the Pohantoon-e-Hawayee (PeH) Air University as the Afghan Air Force's center of excellence for education and leadership.

Her mentoring of the PeH Staff on prioritizing their manpower and equipment requirements, along with managing their personnel actions is key to sustaining the University well into the future. She was a crucial part of two Value Mapping Events, one to strategize the conception of PeH's 18-month Officer Candidate School (OCS) program, and the other to develop a structured recruiting policy to meet the needs of the Afghan Air Force.

With the campus secured solely by Afghans, she also provided countless hours of overwatch and Guardian Angel for U.S. civilians and contractors in support of English Language Training, instructor development and the first-ever OCS entrance exams. She also shared one of our military traditions during her recent reenlistment ceremony, shoulder-to-shoulder with her Afghan counterparts.

MSgt Villarini is just another example of the caliber of Advisors within the 738th AEAS.
