U.S. Airmen and Soldiers attended a National Prisoner of War (POW) Missing in Action (MIA) Recognition Day ceremony at Prince Sultan Air Base (PSAB), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sept. 15, 2023. Joint service members stationed at PSAB gathered for the event to reflect on the service and sacrifices of the more than 81,000 Americans who have been taken as prisoners of war or remain missing since World War II. In 1998, the U.S. Congress first established National POW MIA Recognition Day to be observed on the third Friday in September.
