First USAF Airman pilots Navy Growler in combat

Jonathan Wright, 390th Electronic Combat Squadron and VAQ-135 EA-18G Growler pilot, make their way across the flightline after Wright’s first combat flight Nov. 19, 2018, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Wright is the first Air Force pilot to operate a Growler during a combat mission. VAQ-135 is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
