Staff Sgt. Megan Montagnino, 455th Expeditionary Medical Group non-commissioned officer in charge of microbiology and the blood bank, cultures a sample of cerebral spinal fluid, July 08, 2016, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Montagnino cultured the sample to identify any organisms that might be in the patient’s spinal fluid. Once the organism is identified, the doctors at Craig-Joint Theater Hospital are able to prescribe medication to combat the organisms. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Justyn M. Freeman)
