Many of us grew up hearing the legend of King Arthur, pulling the sword from the stone. Playing on that old tale, the 386th has a sword of its own in The Rock.

Staff Sgts. Justin Costanzo and Jarrod McMillian unveiled a new sword on Aug. 19, replacing the old one that was covered in rust from years of being outside in the elements with a new one made of aluminum and an aluminum-bronze alloy.

The duo are aircraft maintenance technicians from the 386th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron who spent a combined total of over 140 man-hours designing and building the new sword.

"The job was fun because we were able to show our creative abilities that we don't otherwise get to show off in a day to day capacity," said Constanzo who deployed here from Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. "I enjoyed the project and a chance to create something that will stay here for a long time to come."

Thanks to their efforts, The Rock now has a shiny new facelift that will stand for years to come.
