Q: What is your family’s military heritage (anyone else in your family who was/is in the military?):
A: My Grandfather retired from the U.S. Army as an staff sergeant (E-6) and served in Vietnam and the Korean Conflict. My Father-in Law is an Active Duty stationed at Scott AFB.

Q: What is your mission here (in general terms)?
A: My mission here is to protect the assets and resources of the USAF, and to ensure safety and vigilance while the Other Country Nationalists assigned here conduct their daily operations.

Q: What are some of the best parts of your mission?
A: We are the Guardians inside the wire! The best part of our mission is enabling air superiority through ensuring the safety and completion of tasks vital to operations Airmen's readiness.

Q: What are some of the challenges you face while conducting your mission, and how do you overcome them?

A: Some of the challenges faced while conducting the mission is the diversity within the Air Force Specialty Codes of FP. FP consists of Airmen with AFSC’s from all across the Air Force and therefore, can be a challenge. To overcome this challenge as FP members we keep the mission priorities in mind and ensure proper communication for all responsibilities.

Q: How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base?
A: My job differs in the AOR vs. home base in the aspect of overall base security and regularity. While deployed I am responsible for overall base asset security that may differ from day-to -day. While at home station, however, my job allows an easier ability to safeguard OPSEC with the same general systems on a daily basis.

Q: How many times have you deployed?
A: This is my first deployment.

Q: What makes this deployment unique?
A: This deployment is unique because, while the threat is high, this environment still allows time for personal growth in education as well as numerous volunteer opportunities.

Q: Why did you join the Air Force?
A: I joined the US Air Force to serve my country, and to further my discipline and education.
