I’m Staff Sgt. Nathan Meadows, a 387th Air Expeditionary Squadron unit travel representative. I am deployed from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Maxwell Air Force Base, Gunter Annex, Alabama. I joined the Air Force to serve a higher need other than myself. I think there is no nobler a cause than volunteering to work in areas that others will not.

As the 387 AES unit travel representative, I am responsible for inter and intra-theater movement within the area of responsibility for more than 350 Joint Expeditionary Tasking, Individual Augmentee and Quick Response Team members in over 11 countries. My responsibilities begin on initial tasking and conclude following re-deployment. I also create logistics movement plans for remote and bare base airfield operations while coordinating with sister services and coalition forces and I’m responsible for managing the Time Phase Force Deployment Data maintenance document, which is used to execute combatant commander deployment requirements. The best part of my mission is helping the 387 AES team members who are down range get the assistance they need.

The biggest challenge I face in my mission is prioritizing requests from our JET/IA Airmen. Whether it is flight changes, equipment challenges or the general unknown nature of specific deployment taskings, I get around this by thinking outside the box which keeps me sharp.

My professional goals are to be a better leader to the airmen under me so they have confidence to come to me with their concerns and challenge my supervisors to be better by doing the best at what I do. My personal goals are to continue to be a good father and husband and continue my growth as an Airman.

Some of my favorite hobbies are hunting, fishing, hiking and anything that includes me being with my family.
