SOUTHWEST ASIA -- I’m Staff Sgt. Shawn Creedon, a 386th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron contracting officer. I am deployed from the 9th Contracting Squadron at Beale Air Force Base, California. I joined the Air Force to travel and have been fortunate to travel quite a bit.
As a contingency contracting officer, my job is to support the 386 AEW and provide innovative business solutions as an advisor. As a CCO I accomplish market analysis, proposal evaluations, and negotiate with contractors in the local area. The best part of my mission is being able to work closely with the force support squadron, medical group, and security forces in order to help impact morale, health and welfare for everyone deployed to the base.
The biggest challenges I face are working with the locals and the language barrier. The processes and urgency are different than in the U.S. and the language barrier can make coordinating on different requirements difficult.
My professional goal is to either make master sergeant and become a first sergeant or commission and become a maintenance officer. My personal goals are to continue to be a good father, become a certified cicerone, travel to every continent, and have good times.
Some of my hobbies are traveling, tasting and learning about different foods, cooking, hiking, and playing soccer.
