Sgt. Shawn Creedon, a 386th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron contracting officer deployed from Beale Air Force Base, Calif. The Rock Solid Warrior program is a way to recognize and spotlight the Airmen of the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing for their positive impact and commitment to the mission. Why did you join the Air Force? I joined the Air Force to travel and have been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit. How is your deployed unit/job different from your home unit/job? As a contingency contracting officer, my job is to support the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing and provide innovative business solutions as an adviser. What are some of your professional and personal goals? My professional goals include either making master sergeant and becoming a first sergeant or commissioning and becoming a maintenance officer. My personal goals include continuing to be a good father, becoming a certified cicerone, becoming a certified masseuse, opening a restaurant/brewpub, traveling to every continent, and having good times. What is your favorite part of your mission here? Being able to work closely with the force support squadron, medical group and security forces in order to impact morale, health and welfare for everyone deployed to the base. What are some of the challenges you face here? How do you overcome them? The biggest challenges I face are working with the locals and the language barrier. The processes and urgency are different than in the U.S. and the language barrier can make coordinating on different requirements difficult. What are some of your hobbies? Traveling, exploring and learning about different foods and libations.
