Every 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing Airman is part of something greater than themselves. The wing's essential mission of generating, executing and
sustaining combat airpower and combat search and rescue forces across the Levant counts on Airmen to bring their expertise and dedication to the fight.
See below to learn more about Staff Sgt. Tyler Harlow, 407th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron air traffic control watch supervisor, and his contribution to the mission.
Question: Why did you decide to join the Air Force and why do you continue to serve?
Answer: I joined the Air Force to see the world and serve my country. Before joining the Air Force I had never been outside the country and knew that by joining the military I would have many opportunities to do so. I also would have the opportunity to deploy and contribute to keeping America safe.
Q: What is one of your proudest achievements in your military career?
A: My proudest achievement was when I completed my upgrade training and became a certified Air Traffic Controller. Air Traffic Control training can be extremely difficult and not everyone can do this job. We get to be a part of the mission through the pilots and ensure their safe departure and arrival back from their missions.
Q: What is your contribution to the 332nd AEW mission?
A: I contribute through my actions up in the control tower. In the tower we coordinate for the safe arrival/departures of all coalition and American aircraft. We also work with the Host Nation controllers and partner with them for their training.
Q: What is your personal mission statement or what values and ethics are the most important to you?
A: My mission is to always put 100% in my work and to make sure I am presenting a positive image of the Air Force to the rest of the world. The values I think are most important are integrity and respect.
Q: What are some of your goals for the future?
A: My short term goal is to complete my Community College of the Air Force degree this year. A long term goal is to retire with the rank of Master Sgt. or higher.
