Brig. Gen. Phillip A. Stewart is the Commanding General, Train, Advise, Assist Command-Air and Commander, 438th Air Expeditionary Wing, Kabul, Afghanistan. The mission of the 438th AEW is to train, advise and assist our Afghan partners to develop a professional, capable and sustainable Air Force. Chief Master Sgt. Shane R. Wagner is the command chief Master Sergeant, Train, Advise, Assist Command-Air (TAAC-Air) and 438th Air Expeditionary Wing, Forward Operating Base Oqab, Kabul, Afghanistan. Chief Wagner ensures mission effectiveness, readiness, utilization, development, and well-being of coalition personnel from the United States, Greece, Czech Republic, Turkey and Denmark assigned to two locations in Afghanistan. The chief also serves as personal air advisor and mentor to the Command Sergeant Major of the Afghan Air Force, supporting three main operating bases/wings at Kabul, Kandahar, and Shindand. Wagner is charged with setting the conditions for a professional, fully independent, operationally capable, and sustainable Afghan Air Force to meet the security requirements of Afghanistan today and tomorrow.
