Manas servicemember gets married by proxy to bride 16,000 miles away
MANAS AIR BASE, KRYGYZ REPUBLIC--Staff Sgt. Albert Jensen is all smiles as he says, 'I Do' and marries his long time sweetheart back in Hawaii, Charlene Kehaualani Meyer, through a proxy marriage ceremony here, Aug. 8. After some research, the couple discovered that the state of Montana authorizes marriage by proxy, with the only legal requirement for a double-proxy wedding being that at least one member of the couple is either a Montana resident or a member of the United States armed forces. The wedding spanned 16 time zones and 16,000 miles between the bride in Hawaii, chaplain in Montana, and groom in the Kyrgyz Republic. (Air Force courtesy photo)

The 3,800 sq. foot center houses morale computers and phones, movie theaters and a game room. It was built to alleviate congestion in Manas AB's existing morale centers and make coalition servicemembers' stay at Manas more enjoyable while they are transiting in and out of Afghanistan.
