Louisiana native helps bring servicemembers home
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. James Harp, C-17 Globemaster III loadmaster, gives instructions to passengers during a redeployment mission headed for Afghanistan, Sept. 15, 2012. Sgt. Harp is currently part of the 817th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, deployed to the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan. The 817th and their C-17s are an integral piece of the redeployment mission and help to move passengers and cargo within the area of operation.

Master Sgt. Lesley Perrine, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Command Post superintendent, talks with Combined Force Air Component Commander's Watch Cell while coordinating a higher headquarters report for an ongoing situation. Staff Sgt. Dennis Patterson, 379th AEW CP controller, tracks commander's locations and logs daily events. The command post acts as the eyes and ears of the commander, and is the conduit in charge of keeping organizations connected, coordinating base functions to include first responder actions, weather alerts and aircraft activity while keeping all agencies on the same page 24 hours a day. Staff Sgt. Dennis Patterson and Airman 1st Class Gabrielle Boone, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Command Post controllers, flight follow every aircraft arriving or leaving the 379th AEW and coordinate plans with different agencies and organizations.
