Combat Patrols
CAMP BUCCA, Iraq -- Tech. Sgt. Tyler Brown briefs his squad on potential dangers before conducting outside the wire security operations Feb. 11, 2008. Sergeant Brown is deployed with the 887th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, which conducts combat patrols to deter local insurgents from attacking Camp Bucca. The combat patrols include looking for improvised explosive devices and gathering intelligence by directly engaging Iraqis in the local communities. The squadron is the only U.S. defense force that provides continual patrols outside the wire in southeast Iraq. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Capt. Jason McCree)
