Chamorro brothers meet up while deployed
Army Spc. Melvin Chargualaf, 28, an infantryman with the 1st Battalion 294th Infantry Regiment, Delta Company stands with his brother, Staff Sgt. Ricky Chargualaf, 29, 376th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron desk sergeant, at the Transit Center at Manas Dec. 16, 2013. They reunited here after the Army specialist completed a nine-month tour at Camp Stone, Afghanistan. The brothers spent three days together before Melvin returned to his home station with the Guam Army National Guard While in Afghanistan, the younger Chargualaf was responsible for base defense. He pulled security detail for troop movement, cargo and fuel. His older brother is part of the base defense operations center here where he is in charge of the movement of security forces personnel; he dispatches teams to incidents called in around the base. The brothers are both from Inarajan, Guam. The older brother, Ricky, is currently on his third deployment of his 11-year Air Force career. He is deployed from Vandenberg Air Force base, Calif.
