Fuels, maintenance Airmen perform hot pit refuel
PRINCE SULTAN AIR BASE, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA – Fuels Airmen from the 378th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron and maintenance Airmen from the 77th Fighter Generation Squadron performed a hot pit refuel of a KC-135 Stratotanker at Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nov. 28, 2020. During a hot pit refuel, the aircraft engine remains running, which expedites the time in which it is ready for another mission. Techniques like hot pit refueling enhance the wing’s ability to rapidly project combat airpower throughout the region. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Wes Wright).
