727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron realigns under the 609th Air Operations Center
Col. Fredrick A. Coleman III, left, the 609th Air Operations Center commander, poses with Lt. Col. Virnon Garrison, the 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron commander, during a realignment ceremony at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, May 7, 2021. The ceremony was held to unveil the new squadron flag for the 727th EACS, representing their realignment from the 380th Expeditionary Operations Group to the 609th AOC. This move enhances 9th Air Force (Air Forces Central)’s operational resilience and demonstrates advancements in the Air Force’s ability to distribute operations globally. It also provides a unique opportunity to synchronize command and control functions from the tactical to the operational level. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. E’lysia Wray)
