SOUTHWEST ASIA-- U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend, Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve commanding general, visited the 407th Air Expeditionary Group in Southwest Asia July 6.
The general addressed hundreds of Airmen, Marines and coalition personnel during an all–call thanking them for their many contributions to the warfighter in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
“I want to personally thank everyone for the role you play in support of generating airpower in support of OIR.” Townsend said. “You have a direct impact on the defeat of ISIS.”
The general also recognized outstanding performers with a CJTF-OIR coin and presented two Airmen with joint service commendation and achievement medals.
Townsend spent his trip meeting Airmen and Marines from the 407th AEG and Special Marine Air Ground Task Force, getting an in-depth picture of the tasks and responsibilities they perform on a daily basis in support of OIR.
The 407th AEG continues to work with the 332d Air Expeditionary Wing to deliver combat airpower through precision strikes, responsive world-class combat search and rescue, and proactive integration with coalition forces to destroy ISIS. The group sustains the force by developing agile combat support relationships to harmonize a fully integrated team.
