Kyrgyz Republic University students and Airmen from the Transit Center at Manas attended an American Corner meeting at Bayalinov Children's Library in Bishkek March 14.

Participants asked questions about the facilities the Transit Center provides for staying healthy and what Airmen do to stay in shape.

"I eat in moderation, take multivitamins, exercise regularly and play basketball," said Tech. Sgt. Elbert Silas, Theater Security Cooperation NCO in charge of social cultural programs, who is deployed here from Ft. Meade, Md.

Capt. Holly Gebert, TSC humanitarian assistance medical director, deployed from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, also shared that her favorite activities to stay in shape are sand volleyball and Zumba.

The group also discussed what it means to be healthy to them.

"I think it means eating good and exercising," said Adilet Bayakunov, 23-year-old student from the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

"I believe being healthy means finding balance in life -- what you eat, how you exercise and the lifestyle you lead," Gebert said.

"My idea of being healthy is being spiritually, mentally and physically fit," Silas said.

Gebert will be taking over as organizer for American Corner discussions. "I look forward to future interactions and discussion groups with the Kyrgyz people," she said. "I love building new friendships."
