Every week, a member of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing is selected as the Warrior of the Week. This individual is recognized based on outstanding performance, good conduct, work ethic and most importantly, for a job well done.

Meet the Warrior of the Week -- Senior Airman Christopher McCoy is a 376th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron storage and issue journeyman from the 31st LRS, Aviano Air Base, Italy. He is a native of Bristow, Okla.

Here's what McCoy had to say about himself and his deployment.

What do you do on a daily basis at the Transit Center?
I receipt, store, and issue mission essential assets to ensure that TCM personnel and other locations are capable of performing their mission.

What do you enjoy about being at the Transit Center?
I enjoy spending my free time at the gym, which offers several ways to stay fit. I also enjoying being able to venture off base and take in the Kyrgyzstan culture.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I joined the U.S. Air Force to fight and defend our freedom and way of life. The Air Force provided me an avenue to fulfill my quest for knowledge and leadership. I committed myself to make the Air Force a career filled with honoring an enduring legacy of tradition. I can remember as a child always desiring to wear an Air Force uniform. When I became old enough to serve that is exactly what I did.

How do you feel about your contributions to the Transit Center mission and current operations in the AOR?
I feel as though I am truly making an impact on the war on terrorism. I may not be in Afghanistan, but I know what I do here at the TCM enables Airman, Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors to fight terrorist downrange. I think that dedication and a positive attitude are necessary to complete the mission in all locations.

Family: Wife and dog

Time at the Transit Center: Three months

Time in military: Two years

Greatest accomplishment: Marrying my wife, but as far as the Air Force goes, it would be making Senior Airman Below-the-Zone.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the TCM:
Finish my associate's degree in business and become involved in an Air Force organization. I would also like to participate in at least one humanitarian assistance project per month.

Hobbies: Hunting, fishing and traveling Europe during my time at Aviano Air Base, Italy.

Your best habit: I have a habit of setting higher goals each time I achieve one.

Favorite Quote: If you're going to do something, do it to the best of your ability.

Favorite movies: No Country for Old Men

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
My father, He taught me that a good work ethic and dedication will take you wherever you want to go in life.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why?
My grandfather, because he died when I was very young. He was a scout during World War II and I know he would have been proud of me. I would like to spend an hour with him and listen to his war stories and get advice from him, because I know he was a very wise man.
