Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. John Bennett

Every week, a member of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing is selected as the Warrior of the Week. This individual is recognized based on outstanding performance, good conduct, work ethic and most importantly, for a job well done.

Meet the Warrior of the Week -- Staff Sgt. John Bennett is a 376th Aircraft Maintenance Unit Aircraft hydraulics systems journeyman from Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He is a native of Blackshear, Ga.

Here's what Bennett had to say about himself and his deployment.

What do you do on a daily basis at the Transit Center?
I perform preventive maintenance to ensure the air tasking order is achieved on time.

What do you enjoy about being at the Transit Center?
I quickly learned more about the KC-135 Stratotanker hydraulic system.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
My life was going in the wrong direction and I needed a positive change.

How do you feel about your contributions to the Transit Center mission and current operations in the AOR [area of responsibility]?
Every time a KC-135 takes off and lands safely at Manas, I know at one point in time I've turned a wrench on that plane.

Time at the Transit Center: Almost four months

Time in military: Four and a half years

Greatest accomplishment: Making staff sergeant early in my career

Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the TCM: I meet my goal every day by learning more about the KC-135 hydraulic system.

Hobbies: Fishing, hunting, anything outdoors-related

Your best habit: Give 100 percent every day at work

Favorite movies: Anything funny

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her: My whole family played a major role in my upbringing. I learned respect and that you get back what you put into something.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why: Anyone back home in the U.S.
