The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs paid a visit to the Transit Center at Manas April 23, 2011.

"What you are doing here is critically important to the nation's security," said the Honorable Daniel Ginsberg. Not just the job the Transit Center does with aerial refueling and movement of passengers, but the way it's engaging with our partners in the Kyrgyz Republic which is making a big difference.

Mr. Ginsberg, currently on tour in the Central Command Area of Responsibility, is in charge of providing overall supervision of manpower, military and civilian personnel, Reserve component affairs, and readiness support for the Department of the Air Force.
While here Mr. Ginsberg was shown the broad overview of the Transit Center's mission pillars of aerial refueling, airlift, onward movement and humanitarian assistance with tours of flight line and mission support operations.

He also presided as the guest of honor at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Theater Security Cooperation division's brand new facility.

The highlight of his visit was an "All Call" held at Pete's Place where he gave his views on the Transit Center and answering questions of interest to the Airmen of the Center regarding length of tours, budget cuts and manpower strength.

Col. Dwight Sones, Transit Center at Manas director, thanked Mr. Ginsberg afterwards.
"You are an ally, from an Air Force perspective, taking care of the troops inside the pentagon, inside the beltway speaking with senior leadership all the way up to the presidential level," said Colonel Sones.
