The 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron recently was named Air Force Central Command's 2010 Outstanding Medium Expeditionary Security Forces Unit.

These awards recognize exemplary mission accomplishment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn throughout the U.S. Air Force Central Command area of responsibility.

"These awards bring much deserved credit to the units, their members, installations and the United States Air Force," said Col. Donald Derry, AFCENT Force Protection director. "Sincere congratulations to the winners on this significant achievement."

Maj. Timothy Simmons, 332nd ESFS commander, said it was great to see higher headquarters recognizes the hard work, professionalism and dedication of the hundreds of 'exceptional Airmen' who have served in the 332nd ESFS.

"For me, it's a true honor and privilege to serve with the most professional young Airmen I have ever worked with," Major Simmons, a native of Denham Springs La., said. "I am truly impressed with their dedication and consistent top performance."

From tracking down rockets and mortars on a daily basis, securing one of the busiest runway in the defense department to the countless hours spent making JBB a better place for everyone, Major Simmons said he is proud of his Airmen.

"I am amazed almost every day with how hard they work, yet still find the time to excel in college courses, volunteer at places like the Air Force Theater Hospital, United Service Organization, Iraqi Kids day and work hard in the gym to ensure they can meet any challenge that comes their way," he said.

For Chief Master Sgt. Bolden, 332nd ESFS security manager, he feels honored to serve with Airmen and NCOs assigned to the squadron.

"While the official award period (January to December 2010) is outside of our tenure, I'm confident we can up-hold the standard of excellence set in place our predecessors," Chief Bolden, a native of Harvey, Ill., said.

This is the second year in a row the 332nd ESFS has been selected for this award. More than 600 ESFS Airmen who have deployed here from across the globe made it possible.
