Afghan Air Force flight medics Sor Gulab and Raheem, from the Kandahar Air Wing medical detachment, trained 63 students from the Afghan National Army and AAF during the Combat Medic course on proper MEDEVAC procedures in the Mi-17 transport helicopter March 5.

Students were instructed on the safe approach during loading and unloading of litter patients through the rear clam shells doors on the Mi-17 helicopter. The AAF flight medics emphasized safety of both patient and litter bearers when approaching aircraft around the tail rotor.

Medic course participants took turn off loading patients from the ambulance and loading them into the waiting Mi-17. This course is designed to train and equip Afghan National Security Force with the end goal of turning over increasing responsibility to the Afghan forces.
