During the month of February, members of the Afghan Air Force English Immersion Lab, known as the Thunder Lab, competed for the title of Warrior of the Month. This month's winner was 2nd Lt. Sourya.

Lt. Col. John Howard, the Officer in Charge of the Thunder Lab explained, "Lieutenant Sourya has been doing a fantastic job at the Thunder Lab. When we asked all the other instructors who it should be, it was a unanimous choice. Her English comprehension language score has been good and the leadership demonstrated has been exceptional."

She was presented with a military coin by Colonel Howard, originally from Alexandria, Va., and received a certificate of achievement for outstanding officership capabilities and perfect attendance. She also earned a graduating ECL score of 59 during the month of February.

Lieutenant Sourya stated, "I am very happy and I couldn't believe it. Even though many of us are graduating from the Thunder Lab, we are like a family and we will continue this program."

Next month, the competition will be just as tough as the Thunder Lab gets ready to receive new members from National Military Academy of Afghanistan and Officer Candidate School.
