Afghan Air Force Performs Evacuation Mission in Kyrgystan Published June 29, 2010 By Capt. Rob Leese 438th AEW PAO KABUL, AFGHANISTAN -- On June 23rd, the Afghan National Army Air Force completed a non-combatant evacuation operation from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to Kabul in an An-32 aircraft. The Afghan crew performed the mission with a Combined Air Power Transition Force mentor observing. The entire plan process which included diplomatic clearances, visas, fuel, and landing rights were all coordinated by the ANAAF. This is a vast improvement over the previous international missions. A total of 51 Afghan men, women, and children were evacuated. There is a second mission being planned as more Afghans still remain in the troubled neighboring country.
