Afghan Air Corps C-27 practice combat off-loads in Shindand Published June 2, 2010 438th Air Expeditionary Wing SHINDAND, Afghanistan -- A mixed crew of Afghan and Combined Airpower Transition Force mentors flew a C-27 transport aircraft from Kabul to Shindand for practice training missions in late May, 2010. During their three days, the crew validated the combat off load capability of the C-27 aircraft. They made multiple runs adjusting power settings and assessing distances to formalize the procedures they will use for combat off loads. The Air Terminal Operations Center at Shindand was enthusiastic in their support, creating additional combat off load pallets to ensure continued training at their base. In addition to combat off loads, the aircrew flew to other bases continuing their training profile. It really was a logistical effort getting them lodging, fuel, maintenance, and upload/recovery of the combat off loads and the Shindand team members working together with the aircrew made it a complete success.
