New Air Corps Dining Facility saves time, money Published May 31, 2010 By Capt. Robert Leese 438th Air Expeditionary Wing KABUL -- The Air Corps Training Center took a big step forward May 22, 2010. The Afghan soldiers began serving lunch at their newly refurbished dining facility. On the first day, they served 159 meals that were cooked at the main ANAAC Dining Facility and trucked to the training center. This has had an immense impact on the daily ops at the training center. They had been bussing ANAAC members across the base to the main ANAAC Dining Facility and that was taking up two hours each day. Not only does this new dining facility save classroom time, but it also reduces the amount of transportation fuel used by the training center. The existing facility was used which required a massive building clean-up and the removing over four tons of debris. The training center did all the refurbishment themselves, but the main force behind this initiative was an ANAAC Logistician officer. This is a great cooperative effort between Kabul Air Wing & Air Corps Training Center and the savings of training time will pay off immediately.
