Three Ministery of Interior's Air Interdiction Unit and and three Afghan National Army Air Corps Mi-17s conducted a VIP transport mission in support of Min Atmar, President Karzai's first assistant and over 40 additional VIPs and government officials to attend a peace jirga May 18th, 2010, to settle a dispute between two large groups of Kochi and Hazara citizens.

The Air Interdiction Unit Mi-17 aircrews departed from Kabul International Airport and the three Afghan Air Corps aircraft departed from the Ministry of Defense Headquarters in downtown Kabul.

The aircraft linked up and landed at an unprepared landing zone in the vicinity of Daimerdad District to conduct the jirga which lasted approximately two hours.

This was a significant event highlighting not only the three All-Afghan flight crews, but equally important, the cooperation between Afghan Air Corps and Air Interdiction Unit with no coalition advisors involved with the mission.
