NEWS RELEASE: U.S. helicopter responds in self-defense Published May 10, 2009 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Members of the 129th Rescue Squadron responded in self-defense when they came under hostile fire this afternoon during a flying mission out of Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan. The 129th Rescue Squadron flies HH-60 Pavehawk helicopters. Their primary mission is to perform Combat Search and Rescue tasks, including personnel recovery and medical evacuation.
