U.S. C-17 damaged at Kandahar Airfield Published Dec. 24, 2008 By Air Forces Central Public Affairs Combined air and Space Operations Center SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III operated by the 315th Airlift Wing from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., departed the hard surface of the runway at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan at about 6:20 a.m. local time. There were no injuries and no damage to airfield facilities. A safety board will be convened to investigate the incident.
