The 332d Air Expeditionary Wing's Warrior of the Week for the week of June 1 is Staff Sgt. Francisco Gomez, 332d Expeditionary Medical Group mental health non-commissioned officer-in-charge.

Lt. Col. Corey Carnes, 332d EMDG chief of mental health, nominated Gomez for the award and describes him as a true provider extender.

“Gomez is a high-spirited individual who loves helping people,” said Carnes. “He is always seeking to learn and become better at his craft, and for those reasons, I’m very thankful he is on my team.”

Gomez is the sole mental health technician here carrying the individual patient load all while building a robust mental health awareness program.

During his time here, Gomez coordinated two aeromedical evacuations for patients and conducted base-wide education sessions.

Gomez commented on what he felt was the greatest challenge during his deployment which has been maintaining work-life balance, realizing that work will always be there but to be an affective wingman we have to also take care of ourselves.

“My biggest success has been developing trust with 332d units as well as with our sister services which has allowed us to help our brothers and sisters in arms,” added Gomez.

Warrior of the Week is a competitive recognition program that highlights significant contributions made by individual Airmen who raise the Red Tail standard and enhance the mission and capabilities of the 332d AEW.
