Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. Caleb Cunningham

Every week, a member of the Transit Center at Manas is selected as the Warrior of the Week. This individual is recognized based on outstanding performance, good conduct, work ethic and most importantly, for a job well done.

Meet the Warrior of the Week - Staff Sgt. Caleb Cunningham, an aircraft electrician with the 728th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at the Transit Center. Cunningham is deployed from Memphis Air National Guard Base and is a native of Memphis, Tenn.

Here's what Cunningham has to say about himself and his deployment.

What do you do on a daily basis at the TCM?
Whatever is asked of me on the flightline. I do electrician work and also help the on the flightline where I can. I do spot checks as well; to make sure the aircraft systems are working properly prior to take-off.

What do you enjoy about being at the TCM?
I enjoy getting the active duty perspective and having the opportunity to experience a faster ops tempo, see other career fields and better my technician skills.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
Family tradition, every male in my family has served and it's a way to give back to the community.

How do you feel about your contributions to the TCM mission and current operations in the AOR?
I feel pretty good about it; it's a great feeling to be able to be part of the team that gets the warfighters either into the fight or brings them home.

Family:
Married for 11 years and I have three boys, ages 11, 8, and 4 years old.

Time at the TCM:
One month.

Time in military:
Ten years in December.

Greatest accomplishment:
My three healthy, intelligent, and loving children.

Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the TCM:
To finish my CCAF degree.

Hobbies:
I enjoy playing with my kids, basketball, watching the Memphis Tigers, and reading.

Your best habit:
My thirst for knowledge.

Time Bandits, Skyfall, any James Bond movies

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her:
My father, he was in the Air Force and encouraged me to learn and look at the bigger picture. He also taught me to always have pride in what I do and to be as good of a person as possible.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why:
I'd spend it with my wife, because I miss her.
