At Camp Losano, the 451st Expeditionary Force Support Flight fitness center staff has began a program to post individual fitness achievements to the facility's newly established "record board."

This board will include benchmarks for both males and females in various weightlifting exercises such as, bench press, back squat, and deadlift.

For males, records will be held in three weight classes: Less than 170 pounds, 170-200 pounds, and more than 200 pounds. These records will be held by members 29 and younger, and 30 and older. The top three male and female lifters who can perform the most push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and dips will also be on the record board.

"We initially came up with the idea to improve morale and help increase motivation of the Airmen here," said Senior Airman Justin Kiel, 451st EFSF, who is deployed from Ramstein Air Base, Germany. "Since we started the program, we've definitely seen a lot more motivation in the way of competition.

Airmen who wish to challenge a current record will inform a staff member, who will provide the challenger the lift requirements. The staff member will then observe the lift for safety and verification. Each lifter will be given three attempts to break a record. If a record is broken, the staff member will confirm the lifter's weight with a certified scale, said Kiel, who is native of Daytona Beach, Fla.

Unless broken, a record will only remain on the board while the lifter is assigned to Kandahar Airfield.

"Once a record-holder leaves, their mark is removed," said Staff Sgt. Hector Vazquez, 451st EFSF recreation NCO in charge, who is also deployed from Ramstein. "We came up with this caveat to ensure that new Airmen have a chance to get on the board."

New records will be posted to the board every Tuesday.
