KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- Maj. Phillip Born assumed command of the 451st Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron Sept. 3.
Major Born is from Tucson, Ariz., and was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 1997 following graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.
He is currently stationed at the USAF Academy where he serves as the 10th SFS commander.
He has been stationed at Andrews AFB, Md., Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, Ramstein AB, Germany, Yokota AB, Japan, and Osan AB, South Korea. This is his sixth deployment with previous deployments in support of Operations Southern Watch, Joint Force, Joint Guardian, Enduring Freedom-Philippines and Iraqi Freedom.
He possesses a Bachelors of Science degree in History and a Masters Degree in Military Operational Arts and Sciences from the Air University.
His family includes his wife, Kelly, and their three children, Jade, 8, Theresa, 4, and Zachary, 2.
