Chief Petty Officer Pinning Ceremony
New U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officers, Timothy Spicer and Michael DeMartin, sing “Anchors Away” during the chief petty officer pinning ceremony at the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia, Sept. 21, 2013. Rich in traditions and rituals, which guide much of Navy life, the chief petty officer pinning ceremony is preserved to ensure Sailors stay consistent with the Navy’s core values of honor, courage and commitment. Spicer is deployed from Navy Air Cargo Handling Battalion 7, Great Lakes, Il., hails from Rogers, Mn., and DeMartin’s hometown is Detroit, Mi., assigned to NAS Sigonella 0192, both are logistic specialists.
